Description

ASA Recruitment’s client, a Public Sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Research Grants Support Officer on a hybrid basis, on an initial 1-2 month contract (with potential extensions) on a rate of c.£14.34/hour PAYE (based on experience).

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyse the research bank receipts daily – identify payments, raise invoices, update project income record and follow up on unidentified items in a timely manner.
  • Process cost loaders, transfers and labour distribution transactions e.g. allocating eligible costs to the correct research project
  • Receive and respond to customer enquiries via the call management system about research finance processes, transactions, errors and issues, judging when to pass on, or to involve others, to provide an effective service.
  • Assist with the preparation and completion of funder audits, within specific deadlines and in accordance with financial controls-liaising with colleagues across the organisation to source appropriate documentation
  • Assist in the general office duties and any other additional duties as required

Essential Experience:

  • A positive, open-minded and enthusiastic attitude
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • High level of numeracy with good attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise and manage your own workload, work under pressure to tight deadlines, and cope with conflicting demands with high volumes of work.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and also under their own initiative as required.
  • High regard for confidentiality and information security
  • Requires knowledge of finance procedures, systems and processes
  • A finance background is highly desirable, with an understanding of financial reconciliation and audit requirements.
  • Either Vocational qualification (N/SVQ 3, ONC or equivalent), plus typically at least 2 years’ work experience in a relevant role OR School education to standard grade / national 5 or equivalent plus typically 3 years work experience in a comparable setting
  • Good IT skills including word processing, and spreadsheets.
