ASA Recruitment’s client, a Public Sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit an Investigation Paralegal on a hybrid basis, on an initial 23-month contract (with potential extensions) on a rate of c.£194.38 Outside of IR35 (based on experience).

The Role:

To support the successful achievement of the organisation’s terms of reference, the organisation is looking to recruit a number of investigation paralegals. The successful candidates will work under the supervision of the organisation’s solicitor team. Candidates must have a flexible and adaptable approach to work.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the organisation’s solicitors and counsel in their investigations into matters by assisting with the preparation of formal notices to recover evidence and by analysing documents and evidence ingathered by the organisation;
  • Work closely with the organisation’s records and evidence management team to redact documents and evidence, including witness statements and transcripts;
  • Assist with work to support the preparation of the legal team’s records;
  • Assist the Solicitor to the organisation to assess accounts of expenses submitted by parties who have received an award of funding for legal representation;
  • Prepare papers for use by counsel and members of the organisation’s statement-taking team, and undertake administrative tasks required by the solicitors and/or counsel;
  • Undertaking any other ad hoc task as required.


Essential Experience:

  • Paralegal or other relevant experience
  • Ability to carry out tasks independently with minimum oversight, remaining calm under pressure
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Awareness of the need for discretion and to maintain confidentiality
  • Confidence with IT and high level of proficiency in all Microsoft packages including Word
  • Good organisational/administrative skills
