DevOps Engineer

Description

ASA Recruitment’s client, a Public Sector organisation in Edinburgh are currently looking to recruit a DevOps Engineer, for an initial 9 month contract (with potential extensions) on a rate £600-£700/day outside of IR35 (based on experience).

Responsibilities:

The DevOps Engineer will design, build and operate scalable, secure and automated cloud platforms, supporting delivery across multiple labs and digital services. The role requires a blend of infrastructure, development and low-code experience, with a full understanding of the DevOps lifecycle from design through to production operations. The post holder will contribute to platform engineering, Azure Landing Zone development, and AI-enabled services, while also mentoring team members and promoting DevOps best practice.

• Design and manage Kubernetes clusters including cluster design, workload isolation and private cluster networking.
• Implement GitOps delivery models using ArgoCD across multiple environments.
• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, ARM templates and Bicep, including remote state management.
• Design and manage CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps), including Kanban-based workflow management.
• Manage container build processes, registries and image promotion workflows.
• Configure and manage service mesh architectures.
• Implement autoscaling strategies including event-driven and horizontal scaling.
• Design and support workflow orchestration solutions.
• Deploy and manage GPU-based workloads and AI infrastructure platforms.
• Implement observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Application Insights.
• Design secure cloud networking (private endpoints, private DNS, hub-and-spoke architecture).
• Manage secrets, certificates and identity using federated identity and OIDC.
• Develop messaging and event-driven platform solutions.
• Administer managed data services and storage platforms.
• Ensure container security, vulnerability management and compliance.
• Provide production support, incident response and operational automation (runbooks, self-healing patterns).
• Support Power Platform deployments including Dataverse, Model Driven Apps, Canvas Apps, Power Automate and Copilot.
• Enable enterprise-grade Power Platform delivery and automation.
• Develop automation and scripting using PowerShell, AZ CLI, Power Platform CLI, Python, Bash, YAML and JSON.
