ASA Recruitment proudly announces a hybrid role opportunity in the public sector! We’re seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of Assistant Finance Accountant on a 5-month contract, with the potential for extension. If you’re passionate about finance, seize this opportunity.

Description:
· Aid in preparing and presenting year-end statutory annual accounts.
· Collect audit evidence and necessary documents, drafting supporting notes for audit review.
· Support the Financial Accountant in establishing and maintaining effective financial controls within the finance team and across the organisation.
· Collaborate with other departments, such as the communications team, to facilitate the production of the annual report and accounts.
· Assist in VAT compliance by preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns.
· Manage the Fixed Asset Register (Real Asset Management: Asset 4000), ensuring accurate recording of capital assets and providing precise monthly and annual financial reports.
· Act as a primary contact point for the finance team, offering assistance and advice on financial management, including budgeting and forecasting.
· Engage with internal and external stakeholders to enhance service delivery and propose system and process enhancements.
· Prepare various reconciliations and oversee control procedures to ensure accuracy of financial system data.

Essential criteria:

Technical and Professional:
· Experience in financial environments, particularly during year-ends.
· Proficient in Windows-based finance systems and Microsoft Office applications; intermediate Excel skills (including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
· Competent in utilising finance systems for data extraction and import/export with MS Excel™.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of conveying the strategic implications of complex financial matters.

· Strong analytical abilities, offering constructive challenge, identifying process improvement opportunities, and fostering innovative thinking for enhancements.
