Are you a Commodity Manager looking for a new, fast paced challenge?
ASA Recruitment are working our Public Sector client to recruit a Commodity Manager, based in Edinburgh for initial 12 month contract.
As the Commodity Manager you will:
- Negotiate, continuously improve and implement contracts for the procurement of major services, goods and materials
- Have direct management of the learning and development of Commodity Specialists and Procurement Officers
- Have responsibility for the planning, development, and management and maintenance of portfolio of approximately 15 national contracts
- Ensure that all strategic sourcing procedures within their commodity area comply with EU Procurement Directives and other specific legislation
- Effectively Chair and manage the Commodity Advisory Panel (CAP) meetings at all stages including Pre-Tender, Evaluation, Award of Business & Review CAP meetings, attended by key influencers on the specialised commodity involved
- Take ownership for Supplier Management activities and continued Customer engagements with all impacted parties across their Portfolio of Contracts
- Create all published and formal Contract Notices and Contract invitations (Tender documents) detailing any activity and opportunities to the Supplier base on Contracts within their portfolio
- Lead in the drafting and collating of information in order to respond to any of the following requests impacting in their portfolio of Contracts:
- Freedom of Information
- MP / Parliamentary Questions
- Suppliers and/or their Solicitors challenges during the standstill period
- Media / Press enquiries
- Central Legal Office (CLO), as required, to brief and summarise any aspects of the contracting process
- Information Governance queries
Successful candidates for this Commodity Manager role will need:
- Educated to degree level in Business Management or equivalent subject or with significant specific procurement experience
- Membership by Examination of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply or appropriate professional institute or equivalent experience
- Significant senior procurement experience in developing, managing and delivering bespoke commercial projects
- Demonstrable experience in managing performance to plan and remote stakeholder outputs against critical delivery deadlines
- Highly developed personal, written and verbal communication skills as well as tact, diplomacy and negotiating expertise
- A Basic Disclosure Scotland
