A leading public sector body is seeking a qualified and experienced Project Accountant to support the financial delivery of a strategic transformation initiative. You’ll be at the forefront of a major project, helping to ensure financial integrity, strong value for money, and alignment with public sector best practices.
Key Responsibilities
As the Project Accountant, you will:
Develop and manage the project’s budget and financial forecasts
Design and implement financial reporting and monitoring mechanisms in line with corporate requirements
Reconcile financial data, resolve discrepancies, and ensure data integrity
Prepare high-quality financial reports and analysis for senior stakeholders
Support the Full Business Case (FBC) across all five cases (Strategic, Economic, Commercial, Financial, and Management) using HM Treasury Green Book methodology
Define financial and contractual arrangements with suppliers
Contribute to the assessment of financial risks, benefits, and value for money
Essential Skills & Experience
We’re looking for someone who offers:
CCAB or CIMA qualification
5+ years’ experience in senior-level financial planning and management
Strong understanding of public sector procurement and contract finance
Hands-on experience applying HM Treasury Green Book guidance and the Five Case Model
Excellent communication and report writing skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and financial software
A degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience
Desirable Attributes
Experience in mentoring or training others in business case development using Green Book methodology
A forward-thinking mindset with ideas to improve financial management and reporting practices
