Description

ASA are working alongside a large-scale public sector client who is looking for two talented Media Managers to join their team for an initial nine-month contract on a hybrid basis, office based in Edinburgh.

About the Role:
As a Media Manager, you’ll be at the centre of communications activity – working closely with policy teams, advisers, and senior stakeholders to shape public understanding of key issues.

Key Responsibilities:
· Lead on media planning and strategy for high-profile announcements and events, working with senior stakeholders to ensure messages reach the right audiences through the most effective channels.
· Draft and distribute press releases, statements, and briefings that clearly explain complex policy or operational decisions to the public and media.
· Organise and manage proactive media opportunities, including press conferences, photo calls, stakeholder events, and interviews – ensuring clear messaging and logistical delivery.
· Respond to daily media enquiries, providing timely and accurate information, official lines, and – where appropriate – arranging spokespeople or ministers for interview.
· Develop engaging digital content (including photography and video) for use on social media platforms, tailored to specific audience groups.
· Monitor media coverage and public sentiment, using insights to adapt communications strategies and provide real-time advice to decision-makers.
· Support delivery of wider public information campaigns, working closely with marketing, digital, and insight teams.
· After a period of onboarding, participate in the out-of-hours duty rota, covering evenings, weekends, and public holidays on a rotating basis.

What We’re Looking For: You’ll have a background in journalism or PR, an instinct for news, and a strong interest in politics and current affairs. You should be:
· Skilled in managing relationships with media and influencers
· Confident in producing compelling content for modern audiences
· Resilient under pressure and responsive in fast-moving situations
· A strategic thinker who can provide timely advice and mitigate risk
