Description

We are currently seeking applications for a Media Manager to work with a large-scale public sector client based in Edinburgh on a hybrid basis.

Ideal candidates will likely have a background in PR or journalism and a strong interest in politics and current affairs. You should be able to think creatively and communicate effectively through a variety of traditional and emerging media channels to engage the right audiences. Additionally, you should possess a keen news sense, be highly organised, and excel in high-pressure environments.

Main Duties and Competencies:
· Media and Press Management: Work with journalists and other key influencers to inform the public of Scottish Government policies.
· News Management: Spot potential problems and react quickly.
· Media Handling: Draft timely media materials, collaborate with ministerial and policy teams, manage visits, and develop key messages.
· Content Creation: Help create, shape, share, and exchange dynamic content through social media channels.
· Campaigns: Actively participate in Scottish Government campaigns, working alongside marketing and insight colleagues.
· Out-of-Hours Duty: Participate in the out-of-hours duty rota system, including weekend, evening, and public holiday working.

Essential Criteria and Qualifications:
· Ability to build and maintain relationships with journalists and other key influencers to inform the public of Scottish Government policies.
· Understanding of the evolving nature of content creation and consumption, with the ability to produce dynamic content for various channels.
· Personal resilience to maintain performance through periods of sustained pressure due to external events, workloads, and resource challenges.
· Capability to identify potential problems and react swiftly, ensuring ministers and officials receive timely and professional advice.
