Catering Assistant

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a respected care homes in Edinburgh for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porters/Catering Assistants to support the kitchen team in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient working environment. This is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in cleanliness and organisation, and who wants to play an important role in a care based setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure all kitchen and food preparation areas are kept clean, tidy, and compliant with hygiene standards
• Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans using appropriate cleaning methods
• Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation as directed
• Manage waste disposal and ensure cleanliness of bins and waste areas
• Support stock rotation and help with the unpacking and storing of deliveries
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and health and safety in line with care home regulations

Ideal Candidate:

• Hardworking and dependable with a positive, team-oriented attitude
• Able to work efficiently in a fast paced environment
• Willing to learn and follow clear procedures and training
• Previous experience in a kitchen or care setting is helpful but not essential
