Information Governance Officer

Description

Are you passionate about data protection, privacy, and information governance? We’re looking for an experienced Information Governance Officer to join a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, helping ensure legal compliance, safeguard data, and improve internal governance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on GDPR, FOISA, and IG best practices

• Manage FOI and Subject Access Requests (SARs)

• Support with data breaches, DPIAs, and risk assessments

• Maintain the Information Asset Register and retention schedules

• Contribute to audits, policies, training, and compliance reviews

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act, and FOISA

• Background in data protection, records management, or information governance

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

• Attention to detail and analytical thinking

Nice to Have

• DPIA experience

• Exposure to digital projects or data breach management

• Familiarity with risk registers and audit frameworks
