We are currently seeking a talented Graphic Designer to join our client’s organisation to play a prominent role in their social and content team. The role is with a prominent public body and so would provide a large platform to display your work. The role is being offered as an initial contract of 4 months with the possibility of extensions and is on a part time basis of 2 flexible days per week at their office in Edinburgh.
The Role:
This role offers a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Graphic Designer to use visual storytelling to convey the desired communications strategy to the end users of the public body, and for you to directly make an impact in the team and advance your career.
Responsibilities:
· Develop engaging 2D and 3D graphic content suitable for social media platforms.
· Collaborate with fellow visual content professionals to originate and craft precise digital materials that align with strategic objectives. This includes crafting motion graphics, infographics, animations, and GIFs.
· Contribute creative ideas to a team responsible for generating innovative visual content for the websites and social media channels. Provide insights and guidance on industry trends and best practices.
· Participate in monitoring digital, video, and social media activities. Use insights and evaluations to drive improvements in future communications efforts.
· Offer broader post-production support to the team as necessary, with an emphasis on video editing.
· Interpret research findings and incorporate them into your design work to ensure it’s informed by evidence.
· Contribute to upholding the quality of design across the output of our content team.
· Archive created assets in a manner that allows for future reuse or adaptation in various contexts.
· Apply design principles, including layout, spacing, colour, typography, and iconography, to enhance content readability and maintain accessibility standards.
· Collaborate with visual content colleagues to create updated guidelines for creative assets provided to stakeholders.
Requirements:
· Demonstrated proficiency in graphic design, motion graphics, and typography.
· Advanced understanding of design software, including Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud, with a focus on Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.
· Sound decision-making skills for effective graphic utilisation, even in high-pressure situations.
· Proven success in crafting designs that align with user requirements and organisational objectives based on evidence.
