Job Title: Care Host / Scheme Assistant

Location: Edinburgh

Salary: From £12.60 per hour

About the Role

You will provide dining room support, including meal serving and practical assistance to clients during mealtimes. Such as serving meals and offering practical assistance to clients during mealtimes. This could involve helping with meal preparation, delivering food and beverages via the tea trolley, and offering friendly companionship to ensure clients feel comfortable and well cared for. Additionally, you may assist in organising social and recreational events aimed at encouraging client engagement and enjoyment.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome clients and visitors warmly
• Assist with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and personal care where appropriate
• Encourage and support clients to participate in social and community activities
• Monitor client wellbeing and report any concerns to the care team
• Maintain communal areas to a high standard of cleanliness and safety
• Assist with managing appointments and transport arrangements
• Prepare and clear the dining table before and after meals.

Candidate Requirements

• Genuine empathy and compassion for people with care needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Reliable, patient, and approachable
• Flexibility to work varied shifts including evenings and weekends if required
• Previous experience in care, hospitality, or community support is desirable but not essential.
• Willingness to obtain a PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) membership
