This autumn, we’re looking for compassionate and dedicated Care Assistants who want to bring smiles, comfort, and companionship to residents across Edinburgh’s care homes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care in line with individual support plans.
• Support mobility and transfers safely, using appropriate equipment where required.
• Promote independence, dignity, and choice.
• Share warmth and companionship, whether it’s over a cup of hot chocolate, a steaming mug of tea, or a friendly chat by the window, helping residents feel valued, heard, and connected.
• Spark joy and engagement by inviting residents to join in fun activities, games, or seasonal events, creating moments of laughter, comfort, and togetherness that brighten their day.
• Assist with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring dietary needs and preferences are met.
• Follow health and safety principles and risk assessments.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the wider care team.
• Document care provided and report any changes in residents’ health or wellbeing to senior staff.

Requirements

• UK care experience
• Valid Right to Work in the UK
• CV covering 10 years’ work history
• PVG update required through ASA
• Registration with the SSSC
• Compassionate and empathetic nature, with a genuine desire to help others
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, responsible, and strong work ethic
