Description

We are delighted to be working alongside a large precision engineering organisation based in the outskirts of Edinburgh who are looking to welcome an ambitious Assistant Accountant into their Finance team.

This role requires a dynamic individual with a genuine desire to progress and grow in a professional capacity. Candidates who are either studying towards or have an ambition to study towards a professional qualification such as ACCA or CIMA would be ideal for the Assistant Accountant role.

The role:

– Processing purchase orders and supplier invoices
– Producing customer invoices to be issued to customers and members
– Preparing aged debtors and creditors reports and support managers in chasing debtors and approving invoices for payment
– Prepare weekly payment runs and book payments using Xero
– Preparing bank reconciliations
– Managing the month end close process with suppliers, credit cards, staff members time recording, staff expenses, cut off etc.
– Preparing and posting payroll, depreciation and accruals and prepayments journals
– Preparing balance sheet recs and resolving any other issues
– Creating VAT returns in HMRC systems
– Producing claims for Innovate with all backing invoices and input into Innovate systems

The successful candidate:

– A strong work ethic and the desire to progress
– A strong accounts background
– Ideally AAT Qualified or similar
– Either a Part Qualified ACCA/CIMA student or interested in undergoing one of these qualifications
– Experience within an Accounts Assistant type role with a desire to learn more
– The ability to work as part of a team and communicate well with others
– A willingness to take on additional duties as and when required
