Description

Our client seeks a dedicated Private Secretary to join the Executive Team. focuses on evaluating various aspects within the public sector. The Inquiry delves into planning, design, construction, commissioning, and maintenance, with a spotlight on pertinent issues.

Overview of the Role:

This is a unique opportunity to contribute your skills to support the Executive Team in the Inquiry. The ideal candidate will showcase exceptional organisational abilities, self-motivation, and adeptness in prioritising tasks under pressure. Key responsibilities include maintaining confidentiality, displaying integrity, and facilitating effective communication with senior officials and stakeholders. The role, based in central Edinburgh, may involve occasional travel, requiring a minimum of three days in the office, with potential full-time engagement during critical phases.

Main Responsibilities:

Supporting the Executive Team Act as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, manage conflicting priorities, and build capacity within the team. Provide advice on critical business matters and ensure the team has the necessary information for decision-making.

Building Relationships Foster strong relationships with the Inquiry Senior Management Team, other team members, and the Public Sector Inquiry Team. Regularly commission, collate, and present management information, attend board meetings, record decisions and actions, and follow up on progress.

Communication Management Collaborate with the Inquiry’s Communications Manager to prioritise communication and transparency within the Inquiry. Keep staff informed of key decisions and directions from the Secretary and Chair.

Record Keeping Maintain Teams lists logs, providing an audit trail of the Inquiry, and monitor the recording of the Inquiry’s work for eventual transfer to relevant authorities.

Hearing Support Assist in the general running of the Inquiry’s sessions, including acting as duty Hearing Co-ordinate and providing front-of-house support as needed.

Minimum Time in Post:

There is an expectation that the successful applicant will stay in the post for the duration of the Inquiry.
