Technical Lead

Are you passionate about software engineering with a background in delivering leading software development projects?

ASA has an exciting 12 month opportunity with a large public sector organisation in Edinburgh who are going through an ambitious journey from projects on premises to products in the cloud.

You will be working daily with an established development team that care deeply about the quality the software they produce, and are empowered to explore and innovate the methods and technology they use.

Responsibilities:

* Ensure that developed software complies with non-functional requirements
* Coach and mentor team members
* Lead the development team
* Build and maintain an agile culture of continuous delivery and improvement
* Create and maintain an appropriate level of documentation including architectural roadmaps and technical options assessments that can be used to
communicate to the team and wider stakeholders the technical vision of the product

Requirements:

* Experience of introducing new processes or concepts in the development environment
* A background of creating solution designs
* Experience of designing and implementing a solution using a service based architecture
* Knowledge of Agile delivery models
* An understanding of front-end development technologies and frameworks (e.g. JavaScript, React, Riot)
* Experience using an iterative approach to replacing legacy systems
* Capability using infrastructure automation tooling such as Ansible, Chef or Puppet
* Good comprehension of designing and implementing REST services
* Experience developing using Java and/or Python
* Experience defining and leading technology option assessments
* Knowledge of designing/implementing modern web delivered applications
