We are seeking a Senior Health and Safety Adviser for an initial 8 week contract based in Edinburgh. As the Senior Health and Safety Adviser you will ensure a robust governance framework for health and safety, aligned with our clients’ risk management framework and reporting accountabilities.
Duties include:
· Ensure the organisation’s governance arrangements for health and safety are robust and work effectively
· Monitor compliance with organisation’s policies and procedures, and legal and regulatory requirements – including how health and safety management is embedded
· Ensure the supervision, mentoring and development of a Modern Apprentice (Occupational Health and Safety)
· Develop and maintain effective and trusted relationships with Senior Management and Trade Union representatives
· Coordinate and oversee health and safety risk reporting
Knowledge and skills:
· Degree qualified, or equivalent
· Subject matter expert of UK health and safety legislation and regulation
· Professional health and safety qualification (NEBOSH Diploma/NVQ Level 5 equivalent) and commitment to continued professional development
· At least 5 years’ experience of working in a health and safety role
· Excellent knowledge of OHSAS 18001 standards along with experience of auditing (OHSAS 18001 Lead Auditor qualification preferred)
