Description

Our client in Forfar are looking to recruit an Energy Assistant on an initial 12 week placement with the possibility to extend. The postholder will be part of team responsible for ensuring the properties ( schools, offices, sports facilities etc ) meet the carbon emissions targets set by the Government along with budgeting and monitoring of non-housing energy and water supplies and the payment of electricity, gas, water, biomass and oil supplies

The typical working week will be 36.5 hours ( Monday to Friday ). The PAYE day rate ( along with holiday accrual ) will be negotiable dependent on the previous skills and experience of the candidate

Main duties of the role:

* Monitor and target the consumption of the energy and water used in all non-housing properties on a monthly basis. Flag up issues to be investigated
* Assist in the preparation of consumption targets and budgets for all non-housing departments of the council
* Use computer software programmes to produce detailed statistical and graphical information as required by departments and for inclusion in reports
* Carry out Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) consumption checks and AMR coverage checks using our monitoring & targeting software. Identify, report and resolve any issues
* Upload and validate utility invoices, and produce journal reports for finance via monitoring & targeting software. Query utility invoices that fail validation
* Process payments through Integra financial system and interrogate the system to resolve budget and supplier queries
* Liaise with clients and utility supply companies regarding utility account errors, account refunds, meter reading issues and access to properties
* Maintain and update monitoring and targeting software
* Provide a meter reading service through a combination of AMR and on site meter readings

Required knowledge, skills and experience:

* Experience of Microsoft Office packages, in particular Excel
* Excellent IT skills and the ability to quickly learn new systems
* Excellent numeracy skills
* Experience of setting and monitoring budget targets
* Experience of gathering, analysing and reporting statistical data
* The ability to identify statistical anomalies and use initiative to resolve
* Experience of invoice procedures and the processing of invoices
* Experience of liaising with suppliers to resolve issues
* Knowledge of financial systems
* Ability to problem solve and use own initiative
* Good oral communication skills
* Good written communication skills
* Good customer care skills

The postholder will be required to have a full, current driving license. The role requires the willingness and ability to work at heights and in confined spaces in all weather conditions
