Our client in Aberdeen are recruiting for an Intelligence Analyst on a temporary basis until March 2020. The role is to provide analytical support to the organisation with it planning for Brexit reporting initially to to the Intelligence Manager or the Lead Intelligence Analyst by embedding the principles of the National Intelligence Model. The postholder will support the strategic direction of the organisation in relation to Food Crime and food incident management along with identifying and prioritising key threats and risks
The typical working week will be 37 hours ( Monday to Friday ) with a day rate based on an annual salary of £29,759 PAYE plus holiday accrual
Specific duties of the role:
* Develops, or contributes to the development of, the four analytical products and performs the nine analytical techniques, as outlined in the National Intelligence Model, towards the delivery of bespoke customer analysis, products and solutions
* Collects, collates, evaluates and analyses information from a variety of sources including the provision or analysis and assessment in support of early intervention and prevention strategies, assisting partners to maintain a pro-active approach to tackling food crime issues and food safety incidents, setting strategic priorities and formulating action plans
* Conducts analysis to identify any emerging or underlying trends, perceived threats and public perceptions for inclusion in analytical products, meetings, co-ordination and briefings to colleagues and partners both internally and externally
* Provides expert support and guidance on all analytical matters for internal and external stakeholders; manages their work areas, demonstrating ownership and providing direction and delivery of outcomes
* Delivers coherent, authoritative reports, bulletins, briefings, etc., in a professional manner. Where appropriate delivers these to a varied audience including local authority, law enforcement, government and private sector partners
* Supports the production of high quality intelligence packages that are comprehensive, timely and capable of being actioned by the investigative function within the Scottish Food Crime Incident Unit, by external stakeholders or collaboratively with internal and/or external stakeholders
* Builds and maintains effective working relationships and acts as a point of contact in relation to intelligence analysis with relevant counterparts in the Scottish Government and other parts of the Scottish Administration
* Provides clear and focussed oral briefings to senior officers and to the Senior Management Team where required
* Responds to enquiries from internal and external sources, liaising with external agencies as directed by supervisors
* Produces analytical products for court, prepares and submits personal statements and gives evidence as required
* Maintains an awareness of developments within the analytical field and attends subsequent development training as required
* Attends key internal and external meetings, co-ordinating and collaborating where necessary with key stakeholders to ensure a consistent approach
* Ensures that information and intelligence is stored, managed, accessed and disseminated in accordance with the appropriate data protection legislation and guidance and other relevant operating procedures
Essential criteria of postholder:
* Substantial role-related experience as an intelligence analyst within a law enforcement or intelligence agency environment
* Excellent understanding of the National Intelligence Model with experience of delivering intelligence products and use of crime analysis tools and methodology
* Able to use intelligence and information from a variety of sources to report to a wide range of stakeholders, in order to articulate the intelligence picture and developments both orally and in writing
* Experience of managing substantial personal workloads with minimum supervision; prioritising and meeting tight deadlines and able to evidence self-motivation, working within a team and on own initiative, often under considerable time pressure
The postholder will be required to hold a current Basic Disclosure and be willing to undergo BPSS checking
