Senior Developer (Customer Facing)

Description

Our client within the public sector in Edinburgh is looking for a Senior Developer (Customer Facing). This is a initial 6 month contract which could potentially be extended.

The purpose of this role is to help a compact, collaborative and creative service delivery team to create excellent quality experiences for its users.
Build and support applications and tools that are used by internal and external customers.
You may also be required to coach and train other staff within the teams.

Essential Skills required:
· In-depth knowledge of either Java 8+ or Python 2.7/3.x.
· JavaScript UI frameworks e.g. React, Angular or Vue.
· Commercial experience building web applications and REST APIs using Flask or Spring Boot.
· Modern HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
· Modern devops and CI/CD practices including deployment pipelines, Jenkins and Docker.
· Designing and developing with relational and NoSQL databases, particularly Mongo and PostgreSQL.
· In-depth experience of unit testing and test automation frameworks.
· Spring Security and OAuth2.
· RabbitMQ and event-driven design.
· Deployment to cloud services e.g. AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
· OpenShift or other Kubernetes based container platforms.
· Responsive design and accessibility standards.

Desirable Skills required:
· Knowledge of human-centred, research-driven, inclusive design practices.
· Developing to quality standards, for example GDS or Digital First.
· Use of UI pattern libraries to achieve consistent, tested and high quality interfaces.
· Code quality, monitoring, telemetry and analytic tools.

Please note this role requires a Basic Disclosure and core hours of 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
