Our client in Dundee are recruiting for a Web Accessibility Specialist on an initial placement until January 31st 2021 with an option to extend for an additional 2 months. The postholder will report directly to the IT and Digital Support Manager and be responsible for ensuring the organisation’s digital assets comply with the Scottish Government’s Accessibility Action Plan
The typical working week will be 37 hours ( Monday to Friday ) on a PAYE rate of £130 per day plus holiday accrual. This role will require the postholder to work from home until such time as the office re-opens, a date for which is currently unknown
Main responsibilities of the role:
* Carry out accessibility audits on our websites and mobile apps
* Prepare reports on findings and implement necessary changes to fix any accessibility problems found
* Assist in the preparation of the accessibility statement
* Make sure new features are accessible
* Provide training on overcoming accessibility issues to content creators
Essential skills and experience required of postholder:
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Familiarity with WCAG 2.1
* Web design using CSS, HTML, and JavaScript
* Web development experience
* Content management using WordPress, Drupal, DNN or another CMS
* Experience with automated testing tools and reports
* Knowledge of Accessibility best practices
* Understanding of desktop, mobile and responsive web design
* Knowledge of and ability to use WAI-ARIA
* Effective analytical abilities
* Strong web design skills
* Familiarity with The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations
The postholder will be required to hold a current Standard Disclosure though consideration will be given if the candidate has a current Basic Disclosure
