Description

An exciting opportunity has opened for a Solution Architect to play a key role in the transformation of a major national digital education platform used by over 350,000 users monthly.

You’ll be at the forefront of shaping a modern, secure, and scaleable platform that supports students and educators across the country. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise and a passion for improving public services through smart, user-focused design.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design of a future-ready solution architecture, covering authentication, federated identity, and integration with national cloud-based education services.
Ensure all solutions meet security, compliance, and usability standards, including alignment with Digital Scotland Service Standards.
Architect secure access solutions using SSO, MFA, and federated protocols, ensuring seamless user life-cycle management across multiple systems.
Oversee replacement or integration of existing legacy platforms with new, cloud-based services.
Conduct options analysis for new capabilities and ensure alignment with the target architecture and security strategy.
Define and promote best practices for SaaS-based solutions across the programme.
Collaborate with internal teams, local authorities, and national partners to deliver user-centric, interoperable solutions.
Represent the programme in architecture boards, stakeholder engagements, and governance forums.

Skills & Experience Required:
Extensive experience defining cloud integration and technology architectures within large-scale or government programmes.
Strong background in cloud implementations, complex integrations, and secure data migrations.
In-depth knowledge of identity platforms and standards (e.g., Azure AD, Ping Identity, Okta, ForgeRock).
Proven delivery of federated identity and authentication solutions across multi-organisational environments.
Skilled in leading multi-disciplinary teams, including business users and suppliers.
Familiarity with government service environments and Digital Scotland Service Standards is highly desirable.

If you’re a strategic thinker with hands-on architecture experience and a passion for building secure, user-first digital services – we’d love to hear from you.
