Do you have experience in media management within the public sector?

Our client, a large public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is looking for a Press and Public Affairs Manager for an initial 3 month contract.

You will report to the Senior Comms Manager and manage the media activities for the business.

Responsibilities:

· Manage the organisation’s proactive and reactive media relations
· Build successful relations with key journalists and broadcasters
· Monitor the media effectively using insights and evaluation to inform future activities and campaigns
· Work closely with colleagues across the business, and with external partners and stakeholders, to pitch and develop news stories
· Explore and implement wider PR opportunities, such as magazine features and TV appearances
· Advise on and respond to media coverage
· Manage all external publication content
· Develop and implement Communication Plans
· Provide professional communications, presentational and media relations support to stakeholders including media training and coaching for interviews
· Write, commission and edit internal and external content for a wide variety of users and platforms
· Write speeches and forewords on behalf of board members
· Write and project manage the annual report and accounts
· Provide a professional editing and copywriting service
· Research and write articles for publication

Requirements

· Experience of working in media management, preferably in a public sector role
· Existing (or an ability to build) strong two-way relationships with journalists
· A thorough understanding of how to minimise the impact of negative press
· Experience of writing impactful content for multiple channels and audiences, including B2B and B2C communications, press releases, speeches, blogs, forewords, broadcast scripts, and writing for the web
· Outstanding communication skills with the ability to work with and influence colleagues and external stakeholders at all levels
· A Basic Disclosure Certificate
