Description

Are you an Interior Designer and Facilities Officer looking for a new challenge within the local Authority? ASA are currently looking for an Interior Designer and Facilities Officer for our client based in Macmerry East Lothian.
Your new role
To contribute to the delivery of an effective interior design, facilities,space planning and furniture procurement service, maximising efficiency of service delivery within specific standards and approved budgets and in accordance with the local authority’s legal and statutory obligations and its policies and plans with a commitment to achieve best value.
You will be responsible for
· Assist in the execution of a wide range of facility related activity, including building interior fit-out, specification and procurement of furniture, fittings and equipment.
· Liaise with clients to identify requirements and prepare options with associated costs for client consideration.
· Prepare for approval project design proposals, including the planning of interior spaces, working drawings, layouts, preparation and presentation of design proposals for client approval.
· Contribute to contract control by adhering to budgets and by agreeing the specification, procurement and expenditure of furniture and equipment for a wide range of activity, including education, offices and special needs.
· Programme and plan the on-site fit out of furniture and equipment for major capital projects. Prepare relocation programmes and schedules for managers and staff, including liaising with stakeholders on relocation issues and timescales to ensure smooth transition and relocation with minimal disruption to local authority’s services.
· Contribute to the programme of periodic renewal of the local authority’s furniture removal contract.
· Contribute to the storage and re-use of furniture and equipment for local authority’s accommodation (including schools) including the assessment and selection of loose furniture for re-use within local authority’s properties.
· Monitor and authorise payments in relation to the furniture removal contract.
· Prepare cost plans for project fit-out at key project stages and monitor and report on project costs ensuring consideration of whole life costing principles.
· Assist the Service Manager to secure modernisation and efficiency improvements throughout the service, delivering meaningful service improvement and tangible efficiency savings.
What you’ll need to succeed
· Degree Level Qualification or equivalent in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or other relevant discipline and/or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through previous experience
· Basic Disclosure check is an essential requirement of this post.
· A current driving license and/or use of a vehicle is required to manage the workload.
· Experience in procurement, selection and management of contractors.
· Experience of managing a range of interior design projects.
· AutoCAD skills
· Sound knowledge of current Technical Standards and Fire Safety Legislation as it relates to interior planning
· Skilled user of Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
