Head of Investment Risk

Are you an experienced Risk Professional looking for an exciting contract in Edinburgh?

ASA is looking for a Head of Investment Risk to join a public sector organisation to manage a team of specialist investment risk professionals in the creation and launch of a new programme for an initial 6 month contract.

Responsibilities:

· Leading the assessment of investment risk across all potential investments (debt and equity) considered by the investment team. Ensuring the investment risk team works effectively alongside the investment origination team providing independent analysis of risks and constructive risk mitigating strategies into the investment origination process from the start
· Establishing and managing appropriate investment risk policies and procedures for: the consideration of investment opportunities; the ongoing monitoring of investments; and, investment risk across a growing and diverse investment portfolio, which will be investing across the capital structure
· Presenting an independent view of the risks involved in any potential investment to the Investment & Valuation Committee, chaired by the Chairman of the Bank, in their capacity as Head of Investment Risk
· Managing a team contributing relevant content and views to regular reviews of investments as part of ongoing investment portfolio management alongside investment team colleagues
· Attending Board Risk & Conflict committees to provide update and commentary on risk profile of the investment portfolio of the Bank as well as updates on existing investments where appropriate
· Establishing and embedding policies and procedures for the management of distressed investments in a development bank context

Requirements:

· Extensive experience gained in an investment or credit risk function within investment banking or investment management
· Specialist knowledge of infrastructure, project finance and / or corporate finance
· Leadership experience with a record of managing people, skilled communication and the ability to influence others
· An exposure to investing in venture capital or SME investing would be highly regarded

· A Basic Disclosure certificate
