Description

Our client in Aberdeen are looking to recruit a Finance Support Assistant on an initial 12 week placement to provide financial support to the Finance Controls team staff with duties including community care commitments, billing, reconciliations, finance processing and payment of allowances. Liaising with managers and suppliers to resolve various issues whilst providing a high performing, customer focused finance support service on behalf of the organisation

The typical working week will be 37 hours over 5 days ( Monday – Friday ) with a rate of £9.47 per hour PAYE along with holiday accrual

The postholder will be expected to:

* Undertake a range of financial processing tasks effectively including timely and accurate reconciliation of bank accounts, reconciliation of source systems to the general ledger and suspense accounts, supporting the financial aspects of the cash receipting, assessment, billing and commissioning
* Be competent in the use of a range of computerised financial systems for entry and reporting purposes. This includes automatic and manual bank reconciliation and other source records, system administration tasks, investigating and resolving queries, making adjusting transactions, transfers between accounts
* Provide and analyse financial reports and queries on income from the finance, bank reconciliation and cash receipting systems and source systems. Liaise closely with internal and external customers to provide a high level of financial information, advice and customer service to budget holders and staff who collect income. Provide monthly and year end accounting information
* Actively promote continuous improvement across the team and support the development of a service culture within the team to develop the Finance services
* Prioritise work to ensure that agreed services are being delivered. Provide absence and relieve cover for all members of staff within the Processing and Controls team

Required knowledge and experience:

* Financial / Accounting concepts
* Customer service
* Having undertaken financial transaction based tasks

Job specific skills and competencies:

* Ability to work to deadlines
* Ability to communicate with all levels of staff / clients both orally and written
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Computer literacy
* Office experience of a financial nature
* Ability to calculate and interpret financial information
* Proven prioritising skills and ability to work within a team

The post holder must have undertaken or be committed to undertaking the following within a specified period:

* Training in the organisation’s financial, bank, cash and source systems to enable the post holder to apply this knowledge to the role
* Customer relationship management
* Financial reporting; reporting and monitoring aspects of the role
* Training in policies for financial regulation and supervision of staff e.g. Health and Safety, Data Protection, Risk Management
* Any other training appropriate to the role as required
