Description

Our client in Aberdeen require a Task Supervisor for an Unpaid Work Team to deliver a statutory social work service to offenders in the Criminal Justice System to instruct and supervise small groups of offenders who are undertaking a broad range of activities and tasks in the areas of joinery skills, painting and decorating skills, gardening skills, arts and crafts.

Typical working hours are 37 hours per week with a varied schedule (Monday – Sunday) with a starting hourly rate of £13.27 per hour plus holiday pay. This position is offered on an initial 12 week period with the option to extend

The post holder will be expected to:
* Train, instruct, assess and supervise groups of offenders undertaking community payback orders
* Develop, manage and undertake project work which is diverse and has a wide range of tasks to suit the varied needs and abilities of clients
* Demonstrate a positive value base, behaving in a consistent and reliable manner, ensuring service users and stakeholders are treated fairly and with respect, working proactively and autonomously
* Produce all relevant reports and maintain both electronic and written case and administrative records in accordance with internal policies
* Ensure that good practice and continuous professional development of self is maintained in line with policy and procedure, agreed standards and legislation, in line with statutory obligations

The post holder needs to be able to demonstrate an understanding and experience of:
* The Criminal Justice System
* Practice, policy, procedures and legislation relevant to the post
* Adult Protection and Child Protection
* Anti-discriminatory practice
* Working directly with adults or young people
* Working with vulnerable and hard to reach service users
* Awareness of the cultural, societal and gender related aspects of criminal justice
* Health and Safety Regulations and Procedures

The post holder is expected to demonstrate
* Respond to and manage violent and aggressive behaviour
* A comprehensive knowledge of a range of manual and trade tasks or skills, joinery skills, painting and decorating skills, gardening skills, art and crafts
* The ability to supervise groups and to impart skills and knowledge
* Operate Unpaid Work Team vehicles and equipment
* Experience of proactive responses to challenging behaviour
* The ability to operate as a member of a team and take responsibility for the environment, work planning and the safety of service users
* Ability to plan, manage and lead work; effectively motivate, supervise, providing guidance and support including effective induction The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
* Maintain both electronic and written case and administrative records in accordance with internal policies
* Ability to produce high quality written reports and records and the ability to present at reviews
* Communication skills, both written and oral
* Train, instruct and supervise groups of offenders undertaking community payback orders

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum
* Experienced trade background
* Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme Record (PVG) or willingness to attain
* Current driving licence

The post holder will be expected to
* Work at weekends and non – standard hours as required
* Demonstrate flexibility to work at alternative locations as required
* Work in accordance with Adult, Child and Public Protection principles and procedures
* Work outside in all weathers

The post holder must have undertaken or be committed to undertaking the following within a specified period
* The client’s minibus assessment test
* Adult Support and Protection training level 1
* Appropriate Health and Safety training, including; Moving and Handling, Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIPr), Management of Violence and Aggression, First Aid
* Appropriate online interactive learning, including; For Your Eyes Only (ICT security), Protecting Children, Adult Support and Protection, Data Protection
* Induction Programme
* Assessment, reviewing and care planning training
