Description
Do you enjoy being outdoors, engaging with the public and have a “Can do” attitude to manual labour? Based within the KW9 area? If so, I have positions available for the right Candidate with an immediate start.
You will be working as part of a team to carry out all duties involved with road and winter maintenance, driving LGV vehicles, street sweeping, ground maintenance, refuse collection, snow plough driving and gritting.
What you’ll be doing
- Carry out road and winter maintenance duties as directed.
- Drive LGV vehicles including Snow Ploughs.
- Participate in all aspects of Roads and Winter Maintenance and when required providing cover for Street Sweeping, Grounds Maintenance, Burials and Refuse Collection
- Carry out all aspects of Roads and Winter Maintenance.
- Carry out LGV driving duties including Winter Maintenance snow plough driving and gritting.
- Assist in specialist Roads Maintenance operations like Surfacing and Drainage works among others.
- undertake any other duties appropriate to the level of the post, these will include out of normal working hours emergency responses.
- Duties and responsibilities will vary from time to time.
What you need to succeed
- Experience and knowledge of road maintenance work
- Ability to work outdoors in all weathers
- Ability to work as part of a team or on your own
- An awareness of Health and Safety at Work Act
- Experience of operating construction related plant or other construction related skill
- Possession of Driving Licence for LGV Category C and C + E.
- Experience of specialist road maintenance such as surfacing, surface dressing or white lining, drainage works and hard paving.
- A desire to learn new skills
- A flexible approach to a variety and quantity of tasks
- The ability to work on your own.
Health and Safety
- Become familiar with Violent Incident and Accident reporting procedures and comply with them
- Undertake a continual program of Risk Assessment in relation to their role within Highland Council
- Have an understanding of the importance of Health and Safety in the workplace and familiarise themselves with the Highland Council’s Health & Safety Procedures.
Hours of Work
Monday – Thursday – 08.00-16.30
Friday – 08.00 – 13.00
Overtime may be required to complete your daily duties
