Lab Technician

Do you have good organisational and timekeeping skills and enjoy working in a clinical environment? We are working with a Company in Aberdeen for a temporary Lab Technician with an immediate start.

The primary responsibilities of the post are to support the laboratory team to deliver high quality evidence.

What you will be doing:

• Equipment calibration checks on thermometers, pipettes, fridges, freezers and heating blocks following procedures.
• Organising the stock of chemicals and certified reference materials.
• Organising the storage and disposal of formal samples.
• Receiving deliveries of samples into the laboratory.
• Entering data into the IT system
• Carrying out a range of cleaning activities on laboratory glassware/bottles.
• Following health and safety procedures and ensuring working safely.
• Preparing chemical solutions and assisting with preparation for analysis (including filtration and sample preservation)
• Performing simple analytical techniques under supervision

What you will need to succeed:

• Excellent communication skills
• Able to work effectively within a team
• Ability to plan workload to meet deadlines
• Flexible approach to work
• An ability to follow and understand written procedures
• Computer Literacy and familiarity with word processing and spreadsheets

The following skills would be beneficial but not essential:

• Basic understanding of laboratory working practice including safe working.
• Driving licence
