Children and Families Social Worker

ASA have an exciting new opportunity for a Children and Families Social Worker to join our team and work with one of our large public sector clients. This is a full time, temporary position required ASAP for up to 6 months. The job is based in Peterhead but also involves flexible working.

What are the core responsibilities of the position?
· Assessment, care planning, provision and commissioning of services to children in need, whether it be those with disabilities, those who require protection, children at risk or looked after children and their families
· Direct work with children, families and individuals
· Use of professional interviewing and information gathering techniques and therapeutic intervention directly with children and their families
· Carrying out statutory and agency responsibilities including report writing and care plans
· Maintaining record keeping systems in line with corporate and statutory records management standards
· Purchase of goods or services in accordance with financial procedures

Who is the ideal candidate?
Essential;
· BA Honours degree in Social Work or equivalent
· Fully registered with the SSSC and PVG for Children
· Significant experience of working with children and families
· Experience of child development
· Ability to draft clear and concise reports for management
· Understanding and knowledge of the Children’s Act 1995 and Child Protection Practices
· Ability to work co-operatively with service users, external agencies and social work colleagues individually and as a team member
· Good verbal and written communication skills
· Resilience, flexibility and the ability to work purposefully under pressure
· Current full driving licence with car available (mileage paid)

Desired;
· Post qualified social work experience in a rural area
· Recent experience in a child care setting
· Post qualified experience in Child Protection
· Ability to use Information Technology
· Positive attitude and approach to change and innovation

What’s on offer in return?
· Full time working hours, 8:45am – 5pm Monday to Friday
· Hourly pay rate of £19.70
· Additional holiday pay and pension scheme
· Dedicated consultants available for support 7 days per week
