Roads Officer

Description

Are you an SWQR card holder who as experience inspecting road works? We are seeking a Roads Officer to assist in the coordination of road works and to monitor public utility activities within East Lothian. Working 35 hours per week and earning £16 – £19 per hour, this Roads Officer contract is initially for 6 months.

Main duties:

· Undertaking inspections on all works and activities on the Road Network, including enforcement of current legislation, undertaking annual/routine maintenance and condition assessment inspections
· Providing technical support to the operational division of road services including setting out of works to line and level, measurement and issuing of variations
· Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety legislation
· Assisting in the preparation of estimates for internal and external clients

Essential:

· Educated to HNC/SVQ Level 2 in Civil Engineering or related discipline and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience
· Experience in inspection, site surveys and measurement techniques
· Knowledge of road network management functions in a local authority, and related legislation
· Knowledge of public utilities statutory requirements
