Our longstanding client’s in West Lothian are seeking an Occupational Therapist for a four month (minimum) contract working with vulnerable Adults within a Support at Home team in the local area. The aim for this vital team member is to inspire and support people to achieve independence focused goals for a happier, healthier and more fulfilling life. The team is a multi- disciplinary service which offers a variety of services encompassing reablement, crisis care, falls assessment, Telecare and Telehealth solutions.

The team supports discharges from hospital, prevents admissions into hospital and provides rehabilitation in service users own home’s within the West Lothian Area. The re-ablement assessment period is short term and not expected to exceed six weeks.

The Occupational Therapist sought within West Lothian will have experience working with Adults within the community. You will be conducting home visits whereby you will undertake outcome focussed assessments and work with your client to devise realistic goals. Further to this, you must have a sound comprehension and some experience working under the Scottish Social Services Council’s (SSSC) Self-Directed Support Act of 2013.

Self-Directed Support enables vulnerable people, their carers and their families to make educated decisions on how their support is provided and the type of support given. This ensures to keep therapy, rehabilitation and reablement person-centred at all times and therefore more meaningful to the service user. The desired Occupational Therapist should use this as a tool to empower their clients in West Lothian, giving them more control over their own lives, encouraging additional confidence and independence through their professional partnerships.

Finally, it is necessary for the appointed Occupational Therapist to have good IT skills and knowledge of relevant technologies for accurate report writing. In order to be considered of the position of West Lothian’s community Occupational Therapist you must have:

· A degree in Occupational Therapy

· Membership with the SSSC

· PVG membership and the willingness to undergo an update

· UK driver’s licence and access to a car

Experience in rehabilitation and reablement is also desirable for the successful Occupational Therapist within West Lothian’s social services.
