Housing Options Officer

Description

We are seeking a Housing Options Officer for an immediate start in West Lothian. As a Housing Options Officer, you will be responsible for assisting those who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, working with partners to undertake an intervention with the aim of preventing homelessness and sustaining safe accommodation. This contract is initially until 31st March 2021 with the option to extend for 3 months at a time thereafter.

Essential skills and experience:

§ Be qualified to SVQ/ HNC level 3 in housing or equivalent i.e. Social Work, Community Education, Social Care, or be willing to work towards, or recent relevant experience of working in homelessness or related services
§ Have an extensive working knowledge of relevant legislation e.g. Housing (Scotland) Act 2001, Homelessness Bill, Children’s (Scotland) Act 1995, Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007, Care Commission Housing Support registration requirements
§ Shelter Home Point Level 2 Qualification
§ Significant experience of working in housing or homeless prevention/assessment or similar environment
§ Have experience of assessing need, identifying and procuring appropriate support packages
§ IT literate – an ability to use software applications:- email, Excel, data entry, Word, PowerPoint
§ Ability to undertake loan working, this will require working with clients in their own home/tenancy/community setting
§ Full PVG
