Description

Are you an experienced planning officer looking for a new opportunity in the public sector? Do you have excellent time management skills and the ability to manage a demanding workload?
ASA are looking for a Planning Officer to join the public sector in Argyll and Bute. This contract opportunity would be perfect for an individual with first-class problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a pressured environment. The role would be based in the Manse Brae, Lochgilphead area.

The Planning Officer Role:
· Support the Planning team to provide a high-quality service and deliver the aspirations of the Development Plan through the processing of planning and other related applications and workload including pre-application enquiries, appeals and complaints as well as carry out site visits, presentations and projects.
· Demonstrate knowledge and experience of Development Management legislation and procedures through processing or submission of planning applications.
· Demonstrate ability to work with variety of stakeholder and customers relating to planning.
· Providing advice and guidance to other internal departments, applicants, complainants and other members of the public on matters relating to planning control and procedures.
· Undertake site inspections and meetings with applicants, developers, agents, public etc. and liaise with appropriate representatives with an input to the Development Management process.
· Will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Argyll and Bute and beyond to meet the operational requirements of the Service

Successful candidates will need:
· Bachelor’s degree in planning, management, or a related field with minimum 2 years post qualification planning experience.
· Membership or eligibility of membership to the RTPI
· Conscientious player and the ability to work on their own initiative
· Great customer care skills
· Sound negation skills
