Lead Designer – Piping

Description

Working as part of a design team, the Lead Designer produces and checks engineering design deliverables. The Senior Designer is responsible for ensuring that designs meet project requirements. Execute Piping discipline design activities within budget and schedule, while maintaining technical integrity. Hybrid working is available and the role will be split between their Aberdeen office and home / remote working.

You will be responsible for:

• Execute design and draughting activities (Concept, Front End Engineering Development, Technical Study & Detailed Design)
• Prepare Piping drawings and designs from agreed work scopes with minimum input from engineering personnel
• Responsible for assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personal and team performance
• Carry out work in accordance with project Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality systems
• Maintain the required technical quality of work, always monitoring department deliverables
• Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the MoC Process
• Ensure that designs comply with the relevant procedures and regulations
• Ensuring Designers under the Lead Designers follow procedures for document control and use and retention of check prints / IDC comments prints
• Ensure, as far as practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with agreed budget and schedule
• Prepare estimates and schedules and assist in their review
• Maintain good communication with the Client and site visits and surveys when necessary
• Encourage and provide lateral learning within the discipline
• Review and check work output of discipline assigned staff as required and assist the Lead Engineer and others when requested in the execution of their responsibilities and duties

What you’ll need to succeed

• Experience in carrying out on/offshore FEED and detailed design piping surveys and providing technical direction to DV Surveyors
• Highly competent in the use of Autodesk Design products
• Exposure to people management
• Right to work in the UK
• Survival BOSIET/FOET with CA-EBS M MIST
