Your new role

Assisting in the undertaking of activities relating to the implementation of the Flood Risk Management Scotland Act 2009 to produce a local flood risk management plan

The RM Engineer will be responsible for:

• Assisting in carrying out flood studies necessary to develop and finalise potential flood protection schemes and/or assist in the close supervision of consulting engineers and contractors
• Providing, under direction, a range of technical and professional engineering activities
• Assisting, or undertake, land, watercourse and drainage surveys, preparing feasibility studies
• Supporting in the preparation of tender documents and tender assessments
• Meeting agreed work targets for the design stages of projects and progress such projects as allocated by senior staff.

What you’ll need to succeed

• ONC in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• Experience in the design and implementation of flood protection and drainage works
• Working knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act and Regulations applying to Design and Construction
• Good verbal and written communication skills with an ability to work on your own initiative
• Ability to meet agreed deadlines and standards
• Full, current driving licence
