Senior Technical Architect – Business

Description

Our client in Dundee are looking to recruit a Senior Technical Architect – Business Specialist on an initial 12 month placement with the option to extend for a further 11 months. The postholder will report to the Senior Digital Delivery Lead within Finance and Corporate Services and be responsible for participating in defining business strategies and aligning these with the supporting technology required to achieve them

The typical working week will be 37 hours ( Monday – Friday ) with a negotiable rate dependent on previous experience along with holiday accrual

Main duties of the role:

* Engage with internal projects and partners to understand and identify their needs, then design appropriate interim and target business architectures
* Lead the definition of service design within projects
* Regularly collaborate and find agreement with senior stakeholders, providing direction and challenge
* Identifying problems pro-actively and translate these into non-technical descriptions, highlighting their impact across the enterprise in a way which can be easily understood

Additional duties:

* Creating and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation as well as externally
* Supporting the business architecture assurance function in support of governance activities
* Contributing to the development of Architectural strategies
* Within a business architecture context, undertaking rigorous analysis to develop an understanding of solution and technology options to recommend the most appropriate approach across different environments and operating models
* Acting as ‘critical friend’ to clients and users by contributing to the definition of best practice within business and service design
* Creating business architecture deliverables and ensuring that service design deliverables are produced at each stage of the project lifecycle
* Collaborating with colleagues in cyber security to ensure that strategies and designs are robust, scalable, open and secure
* Working in an agile, multi-disciplinary team environment, understanding and promoting agile methods with partners where appropriate
* Taking an open and collaborative approach to working and sharing knowledge

Essential knowledge required of postholder:

* Excellent knowledge and experience of business architecture, analysis and service design. Experience in the identification and resolution of business architecture concerns arising from the implementation of: integrated, commodity based digital solutions and platforms, into the business
* Experience of participation in defining business strategies and aligning these with the supporting technology required to achieve them
* Demonstrable track record of participation in all lifecycle phases of implementing large scale corporate or government ICT / Digital projects into a complex business landscape
* Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to communicate complex concepts to internal and external audiences, at all levels, in a way which they can understand and engage with
