Street Lighting Electrician

Description

Our client in Aberdeenshire are looking to recruit a Street Lighting Electrician on a 16 week placement based in the Strichen area. The role is to provide assistance in the preparation and maintenance in the inventory of electrical installations, and install, maintain and inspect lighting, illuminated signs, and related services using the appropriate tools and equipment.

Typical working week will be Monday – Friday ( with additional out-of-hours emergency standby rota ) on a rate of £12.59 per hour plus holiday accrual

Main responsibilities and duties:

* Electrical work in accordance with specifications
* Manage, programme and organise own activities in conjunction with Supervisor
* Assess plans and / or work schedules to ascertain exact material requirements
* Ensure all work is carried out to set standard and specifications
* Complete work according to targets and schedules
* Completion of time sheets, plant sheets and other records as required
* Use of hydraulic access platforms
* Routine maintenance of tools and equipment
* Comply with all relevant Health & Safety legislation

Required qualifications and training:

* SQA Certificate in Electrical Installation part one or equivalent course of study approved by the SJIB
* Current Valid Driving Licence
* SVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation and passed the ACA or SQA Certificate in Electrical Installation parts 1 & 2 and gained an Assessment Certificate for BS7671 inspection & Testing of Electrical Installations
* City & Guilds B Certificate in Electronics and Electrical Engineering

Desired experience:

* Installation of commercial electrical circuits
* Installation and maintenance of street lighting and related equipment
* Use of hydraulic access platforms
* Background in testing electrical equipment

Knowledge and skills expected of postholder:

* Be a team worker, with a flexible approach
* Ability to manage, programme and organise own activities in conjunction with Chargehand Electrician
* Ability to problem solve with limited supervision
* Knowledge of fault finding in electrical circuits
* Working knowledge of IE Wiring Regulations 16th Edition

Additional requirements:

The postholder will have the responsibility for and is required to drive fleet vehicles. The preferred candidate will be required to produce a current, valid driving licence. An offer of employment will be subject to the outcome of this check being satisfactory. The employee will also be required to produce their licence, on request, at periodic intervals. Should the employee’s driving licence be withdrawn, for whatever reason, it may be necessary to terminate the postholder’s placement. There will be the requirement to work outdoors in all weather conditions
