Description

The majority of children and young people in Dundee are cared for within their own families with the assistance of health and education services. However, some children, young people and families could benefit from additional support by Social Workers to improve their overall well-being. Children’s Services Social Workers assess the requirements of children and young people and deliver a variety of supportive services so that they can be properly looked after within their home, where this is possible.

Our Dundee based client is seeking an empathetic Children’s Social Worker to assess, support and plan for better outcomes for children in its community. Working alongside Family Support Workers, Occupational Therapist and additional Health and Social Care staff will assist you in gaining an in-depth understanding of children requiring your expertise and attention and assist you in providing a person-centred approach to your practice.

The aim of the children’s service is to encourage the well-being of children and to help parents to look after their children with minimal intervention. As well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the successful Social Worker will also work in collaboration with parents and families to assist with children’s and young people’s needs. This could be achieved by the Social Worker and their team through, direct advice and assistance centred on the safeguarding and protection of all children, family support and counselling both individual and group to name a few.

In order to be considered for the position of Children’s Social Worker in Dundee you must have:

· A degree or equivalent in Social Work
· Previous experience working with a Children and Families service
· Registration with SSSC as a Social Worker
· Membership with the PVG scheme and have the willingness to undertake an update
· A UK driver’s licence
· Be available to begin full-time, asap
