Description

Are you looking for a new opportunity in Site Reliability Engineering and to play a key role with a major public sector client?
ASA is working with a large public sector client and are currently looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to focus on the reliability of their Amazon Web Services based platform as a service. The role will ultimately be responsible for ensuring the reliability and resilience of the platform and applications that run on the platform whilst ensuring a durable focus on engineering.
In this role you will be responsible for:
· Gathering and analysing metrics from both operating systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding
· Partnering with development teams in order to improve services through rigorous testing and release producers
· Participating In system design consulting, platform management and capacity planning
· Using automation and uplifts to create sustainable systems and services
· Balancing feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service level objectives
· Maintaining services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system health
· Working with Developers, Testers, Architects, Dev Ops and Sysops to incrementally and continuously improve the entire system
· Assist with fault resolution and maintain relationships with, manage and support third parties in providing infrastructure services.

To be successful in this role you will need:
· Strong Amazon Web services knowledge and a minimum of 3 years hands on experience
· Strong awareness of digital strategy, new ways of working and emerging technologies
· Experience in running root cause analysis on a large distributed system ensuring that failure is not repeated
· Excellent Linux/Unix system administration skills with a bias towards RedHat Enterprise Linux versions 7 and Cent OS
· Proficient in systems monitoring, capacity planning, business continuity, system support and failure diagnosis
· An understanding of software and infrastructure architecture including performance tuning applications, infrastructure and data bases
· Experience scaling system sustainability through automation and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability, velocity and cost efficiency

This role offers a secure 6 month contract, with the potential to extend to the maximum of 23 months in 6 month periods, outside the scope of IR35 working 37 hours Monday to Friday for a large public sector client in The Central Belt
