Public Lighting Operative

Description

ASA Recruitment’s client is looking to recruit a Public Lighting Operative to work on the construction and maintenance of public lighting installations.

Key tasks include:
· Install lighting columns, cable and ducting and other street furniture
· Install and replace lanterns, lamps, brackets, system controllers and control gear
· Energise and switch lamps
· Inspect and clean street furniture and maintain lighting equipment (e.g. by replacing lamps, lanterns, visors, system controllers and control gear by socket connection, renewing lamp fuses, resetting circuit breakers and time-clocks, dressing and painting lighting furniture, minor repairs to lighting equipment)
· Provide general support and assistance to other lighting operatives, electricians and staff

Essential requirements:
· Experience in the operation of vehicle mounted cranes
· Demonstrate an awareness of safe working methods, especially in the vicinity of underground services (e.g. electricity cables, gas pipes, fibre optic cables, etc.)
· Ability to consistently produce work of a very high standard, at a high productivity output level
· Working knowledge of traffic management arrangements to Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual and Safe Working Methods
· Possession of a current driving licence at all times (preferably Category C or C1)
