IT Security Analyst

Are you an experienced IT Security Analyst looking to undertake an exciting new opportunity?

Our client, a well-known public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is looking for an IT Security Analyst to protect the security of information assets through a variety of services. The role is for an immediate start for an initial 6 month contract.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor for, and respond to, security incidents
• Undertake threat assessments
• Undertake regular vulnerability scanning and triage
• Contribute to key documentation including operational security standards, patterns, processes and playbooks
• Assist in the delivery of key items on the IT Security Roadmap
• Mentor junior team members

Requirements:

• Experience in application of security controls in line with standards such as ISO27001 / PCI DSS, CIS Top 20 etc.
• Experience in Vulnerability Management
• Experience of Security Monitoring and Investigation
• Working Knowledge of Intrusion Detection Systems
• Experience of Standards Creation
• Knowledge and experience conducting forensic analysis to identify indicators of compromise
• Experience with network analysis tools and the ability to conduct packet capture analysis
• Excellent understanding of network principles (TCP/IP, DNS etc.) and internet protocols (HTTP, SMTP etc.)
• Ability to triage vulnerability criticalities in line with in place security controls
• Knowledge of treat modelling techniques and threat analysis
• Experience of coordinating penetration testing activities by third parties against both network infrastructure and software development
• Ability to carry out information security risk assessments and recommending appropriate mitigations
• Experience of M365 and AWS
• Relevant security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CSA+, CEH, or other applicable qualifications
• Experience of working in a security team within the public sector
