Health and Safety Adviser

Description

We are seeking a Health and Safety Adviser to provide expert advice on all matters relating to occupational health and safety affecting our client as an employer and service provider. Working within Strategic Support and/or Operational Support you will assist in the provision of an effective and customer focused occupational health and safety service based in Edinburgh. This contract is initially for 8 weeks.

As the Health and Safety Adviser your duties will include:

· Assisting in the provision of advice to line management on health and safety competencies relevant to levels of responsibilities and/or work activities in service areas to assist management identify any training needs
· Developing and maintaining close and effective links with managers and local Trade Union representatives, ensuring that the service needs are responded to promptly
· Where appropriate, contribute to the development and delivery of training, development workshops or briefings for managers and employees
· Undertaking a programme of health and safety auditing across allocated service areas, ensuring that reports on the findings are provided promptly to service managers, with any remedial action detailed in an action plan

Essential requirements:

· At least 5 years’ experience working in a full time health and safety role
· Experience of implementing safety management systems including development of policies and guidance
· Experience of health and safety auditing
· Experience of delivering health and safety training
· Professional health and safety qualification (NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent)
