Description

Our Public sector client based in Aberdeen are sourcing for a Head of Field Operations. This role is initially for a 4 month contract with possible extension.

This is full time post for 37 hours a week (Monday to Friday) on a day rate, based on a salary of £48,930 per annum PAYE plus holiday accruals.

This position will be based from home for the duration.

The Operational delivery branch is responsible for the delivery of Official Controls in approved slaughterhouses, cutting plants and game handling establishments in Scotland, the Scottish shellfish monitoring programme and the issue of Export Health Certificates in meat plants and seafood certification hubs.

The Head of Field Operations (HFO) provides leadership for colleagues and stakeholders in the delivery of Official Controls and reports to the Head of Operational Delivery (HOD).

The HFO will engage with external stakeholders including, Senior representatives of the Scottish Meat Industry, Operational leads and other relevant stakeholders and will lead the continuous improvement of the delivery of Official Controls in areas.

The HFO will lead recruitment and retention activity and deliver a programme of training new staff.

The HFO will manage a team of Operations Managers and 4 cost centres, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of forecasts and expenditures.

The HFO will be the source of advice for all corporate matters impacting on the operational teams and leads the consistent application of policies.

The HFO will network widely, building relationships with senior managers and participating fully in working groups and initiatives.

The post holder will be responsible for outcomes and performance management as monitored through a KPI framework of geographically dispersed operational teams, establishing objectives which meet the needs of the strategic plan, ensuring the service is delivered to a consistent standard throughout Scotland and that the team continuously develops and grows.

Specific Duties

* Build meaningful strategic stakeholder relationships across the meat sector to maintain support for policies in relation to the delivery of Official Controls.
* Provide direction, support and definitive advice to colleagues and stakeholders as required and line manage 4 Operations Managers with over staff in 100 in over 30 locations. Manage 4 cost centres within budget.
* Support the implementation of any new legislation as it pertains to meat controls through coordination with key stakeholders
* Provide operational input into policy development, in particular the development of charging systems
* Represent the company in key stakeholder groups such as, Partnership Working Group, Scottish Meat Industry Forum and engage with Senior meat industry representatives
* Develop and deliver a sustainable resourcing model to ensure we have access to a supply of staff to meet future demand.
* Lead the development and delivery of relevant sections of the operational delivery business plan and risk register for areas related to OMs or meat operations.
