Description

Our client in Aberdeen are looking to recruit a Finance Officer on a temporary basis until March 2020. The postholder will work closely with the rest of the Finance Department in order to ensure consistency and best practice is developed and maintained across the function, proactively driving the on-going improvement of business practices and performance across the team. Working cooperatively and positively with all internal departments, providing excellent service, support and advice where applicable as well as liaising with staff in other divisions of the business and external auditors (Audit Scotland)

The typical working week will be 37 hours ( Monday – Friday ) with a rate based pro rata on an annual salary of £25,367 ( PAYE ) plus holiday accrual

Specific duties of the role:

* Responsible for processing weekly BACS runs & online payments
* Responsible for monthly bank reconciliations
* Prepare monthly cash flow forecast
* Maintain fixed asset register and post monthly depreciation / amortisation journals
* Assist with monthly reconciliations of balance sheet control accounts
* Review, update and file quarterly VAT returns
* Prepare and publish quarterly expenditure disclosures in line with the Public Services Reform Act 2010
* Assist with preparation of Annual Report & Accounts
* Ad-hoc analysis and project work specified by the Financial Accountant

Main requirements of the postholder:

* The ability to understand an analyse and reconcile financial outputs including interrogating reports and checking the accuracy of system interfaces
* A high degree of numeracy and accuracy with a strong attention to detail, an ability to solve problems with excellent administrative skills
* Highly effective time management and organisational skills and experience of delivering accurate outcomes whilst working to tight deadlines with a strong customer service focus
* Proven communication and interpersonal skills – ability to work as part of a team, as well as demonstrating confidence and tact relating to ‘customers’ at all levels
* Proven organisational skills – post holder will be required to manage the priorities of their workload whilst meeting agreed deadlines and dealing with urgent matters as they arise
* Knowledge of Government financial rules, practices and principles
* Experience of using IT appropriately to create, store and manage corporate information. Experience with IT software packages particularly Excel interrogating spread sheets for reporting purposes
* Knowledge / use of finance and procurement systems
