Complex Care Support Worker

We are seeking enthusiastic and proactive support workers to support a young adult who is moving into a new tenancy in the Edinburgh area.

We are looking for dynamic people with a positive and sensitive approach to work with a young male adult with a brain injury, who is autistic with complex communication needs. He requires 24/7 care so you will need to be flexible with your working week to cover early, late and night shifts. This young adult needs to be supported by someone who has experience of working with a similar client group.

In this support worker role, you will be an integral member of the support team, contributing to and ensuring a high quality of care for the service user. Support will be provided on a needs assessed basis and will reflect the ethos of promoting independence and personal choice, ensuring the service user receives the physical, practical and emotional support to meet his needs.

The ideal support worker will have some if not all some of the following attributes:
· Be physically able
· Have a clear understanding of challenging behaviours
· Able to follow clear strategies and processes
· Confident and able to inspire the person they support to achieve more
· Possess strong communication skills both verbal and non verbal
· Can operate as a member of the team and take responsibility for the environment and the safety of the service user

This Role is 36 hours per week working 5 from 7 days and the successful applicant would be expected to work 2 weekends out of 3 whilst all other shifts would be a mix of early morning, evenings and nights.
