Charity Accounts Assistant

Our client in Dundee are looking to recruit a Charity Accounts Assistant on an initial 4 month placement to work alongside the Accounting Advisor. The postholder will assist in ensuring the continued processing of accounts throughout a period of review with the organisation

The typical working week will 37 hours Monday – Friday with a negotiable day rate dependent on the candidate’s skills and experience along with holiday accrual

Main duties of the role:

* Review charity accounts to ensure they comply with relevant legislation
* Issue correspondence to charities relating to accounts compliance
* Answer telephone queries from charities and their advisors in relation to the annual return process and accounts preparation
* Undertake reviews of charity accounts, considering all aspects of charity compliance, seeking input from other experts within the office
* Undertake analysis regarding accounts reviews and contribute to planning for future reviews
* Provide input into risk assessment function as required

Essential skills required:

* Experience of analysing information from a variety of sources to inform decision making and to demonstrate and improve performance
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to present information from a range of sources in a concise and informative way to support external stakeholders and internal colleagues
* Experience of working on their own initiative and managing a diverse workload
* Meeting deadlines and dealing effectively with a range of concurrent priorities
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office-based software such as Excel, Word and Outlook with an ability to learn other internal software

Desirable skills:

* CCAB qualified accountant
* Experience of the charity sector
