Description

A large Glasgow based organisation are currently looking to bring a determined and experienced professional into their finance team. The Finance Assistant role requires an accounting professional with a strong background in financial reporting and strong interpersonal skills. The role will involve producing detailed financial management reports and budgetary information and communicating this to key stakeholders throughout the business.

A Finance Assistant role like this would be a great fit for someone who is studying towards a professional qualification and has a strong background in financial reporting. Management reporting and budgeting will make up a large part of this role and a background in these aspect would be also be advantageous.

The role:
– Producing varied financial reports and analysis for colleagues
– Regularly communicating complex financial information
– Producing financial management reports of a high quality
– Assisting in the preparation of annual estate budgets and budgetary information
– Transferring costs for payment to correct centres
– Assisting with the production of monthly management and year end accounts and also forecasting
– Overseeing underlying financial transactions and ensuring their accuracy across multiple teams
– Resolving any queries in relation to cost centres and financial reporting
– Maintaining data in an accurate manner, including loading of data, journals and sales invoices, and internal re-charges
– Suggesting and working to implement new systems and improve processes where necessary
– Building and maintaining strong relationships with a number of key stakeholders throughout the organisation

The candidate:
– Ideally studying towards a professionals accounting qualification
– Previously having dealt with financial reporting
– A background in communicating with both finance non-finance stakeholders and explaining financial information in order to assist their decision making
– A background in assisting with the preparation of management accounts and key financial reconciliations
– Experience in managing accounts payable duties
– A good working knowledge of financial an accounting processes and procedures
– An understanding of Inland Revenue VAT requirements
– Ability to work effectively under pressure in order to meet deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work
– Excellent IT skills including advanced Excel experience and a strong background with accounting software
– Strong communication skills, both verbally and written
– The ability to make judgements and resolve issues independently
