Application Developer (Oracle)

Description

Are you an experienced Application Developer looking to work as part of a vibrant project team to assist with the transition of Oracle based applications?

ASA is looking for an Application Developer (Oracle) for a large public sector organisation in Edinburgh to lead on assigned work packages that focus on the redevelopment, preparation and migration of core applications and supporting database systems to a new virtualised private-cloud datacentre.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely within the Digital Technologies Team, incumbent suppliers and other business functions to oversee the redevelopment and or upgrading of core systems so that they can be virtualised and migrated to a new private-cloud datacentre
• Act as a subject matter expert in Application Development, Application Management and Systems Integration
• Coordinate functional and non-functional systems testing, and assist the business with the creation of test scripts and scenarios
• Provide key input into the configuration and testing of the back-up and disaster recovery solution
• Assist with establishing a service continuity strategy and testing plan to ensure that application SLAs and OLAs align to the corporate Business Continuity Plan (BCP)
• Provide technical recommendations to the business in relation to Applications Development and related emerging technologies
• Maintain production, development and test environments within the datacentre and document testing and change-control procedures
• Implement solutions that will enable the high-availability of core applications

• Provide systems documentation and knowledge base articles

Requirements:

• Oracle APEX 4.2 and above (futureproof for further upgrade)
• Oracle SQL & PL/SQL v10g -12c
• Oracle Forms 12c
• Oracle Reports 12c
• Linux/Unix
• Experience and knowledge of Java would be beneficial
• Experience integrating multi-technology platforms using Oracle Forms, APEX and Fusion Middleware
• Understanding and experience of Application Development
• Familiar with Oracle licensing, especially for optimisation for virtualisation
• Experience monitoring the performance of applications using optimisation tools and techniques
• A UK driving licence
