Congratulations Emeka!

We wanted to recognise our Healthcare workers as they are extremely dedicated and continuously impress us. ASA decided to present a Distinction in Healthcare Award to one of our Healthcare Workers who has been exemplary in their job and embodies our company values.

ASA’s company values are at our core as a business and it’s important that everything we do is underlined by these values.

We were looking for people who go above and beyond, make a significant impact on a service user or helps out at short notice. Nominations came in from our Clients and Consultants from our 4 offices and ASA’s values champions picked our winner – Emeka Ikemere.

Emeka was nominated as his flexibility has allowed us to provide 24/7 care to a service user. Quarriers came on last minute for short-term needs. Emeka impressed them so much, they decided to continue using him for the remainder of the service users stay, rather than looking for internal staff. Emeka travels 43.6 miles for each shift, clocking up 213 miles, literally going that ‘extra mile.’

Since we started the competition we have had more good news. The user has moved on from Quarriers and the new service have been in touch with us and want Emeka to come and work beside them.

Emeka received a certificate, £100 gift voucher for Amazon and a copy of the certificate is now sitting proudly in our Glasgow Reception.

We have had some great entries and think our runners up also deserve a mention:

Emma Cowie – Nominated by Anita Hawkes, Fords Road Care Home
‘Emma exceeded all expectations the first time in this unit. She is confident, competent and works great on her own initiative. Staff informed me that she does not require to be told what to do, she just looks for anything to be done. She works well with staff and residents alike. Please, please, please can we have her back!’

Graham Nagle – Nominated by Heather Mills, Oaklands Care Home
‘He was an outstanding worker. He was polite, reliable, punctual, very obliging and accommodating with regards to doing extra hours and last minute shifts. He had a marvellous rapport with residents and all staff groups. Residents are really missing him and looking forward to his return.’
